Inventory process for warehouse control of a company located in Humocaro Alto, Lara state

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to analyze the inventory process for warehouse control at a company located in Humocaro Alto, Lara State. The study began with an assessment of the current state of the company’s inventory process in order to improve warehouse management. In this regard, the research was conducted under the positivist paradigm, using a descriptive, non-experimental design. The population consisted of six (6) individuals working in the company’s warehouse, who were administered a questionnaire containing fifteen (15) dichotomous closed-ended questions. The data obtained was analyzed, leading to the conclusion that the company has weaknesses regarding the timely recording of product receipts and shipments, products that lack formal classification, a lack of updated coding for all merchandise, non-standardized forms for receiving, storage, and shipping controls, a lack of an adequate rotation policy to establish maximum and minimum stock levels, and formal deficiencies in warehouse security. Therefore, it is necessary to classify and organize all stored products, as well as improve the organization and layout of the warehouse. To this end, the company is advised to improve its controls and maintain records in a timely manner, train its employees, plan inventory counts, and update and standardize product formats and coding, in accordance with the established proposal.
