Abstract

Education in the current era needs to be rethought to adapt to the characteristics of society and its changing realities, as it requires a new rationale for how we conceive education. In this sense, it is necessary to introduce new paradigms that give it dynamism and, in some way, modernize educational processes, generating methodologies to make education relevant to the new times. This article explores the importance of using active methodologies in the context of a complex society as a way to introduce changes that reinforce self-knowledge, responsibility, and ethics. These methodologies constitute an excellent opportunity to enhance the way we learn and teach, as well as to utilize strategies that provide different elements for analysis, understanding, and reflection. In this way, they enable the introduction of improvements and transformations in learning environments to promote the exercise of citizenship, appreciation of peace, sustainability, and respect for nature.
