Predictors of attitudes against gender equality in the context of women's participation in politic

Although women have had the right to vote and hold seats in parliament in many countries for decades, they continue to be underrepresented, especially in the highest positions. The objective of this research is to determine predictors of attitudes against gender equality in the general population. This is a quantitative cross-sectional study conducted in Barquisimeto, Lara state, Venezuela, between January and June 2025. A survey was conducted of 160 people over the age of 18, which included a scale of attitudes against gender equality (EACIG). Cronbach’s alpha, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) measure, Bartlett's sphericity, and multivariate linear regression were used. The conclusion was that age, lack of religion, absence of political orientation, and male gender were predictors of attitudes against gender equality. The results of this study show that there is a lack of awareness of gender equality issues in the general population.
