Abstract

The present work deals with the prescription and expiration of obligations, focusing on a comparative international analysis. This research aims to study the different legal systems in various jurisdictions, highlighting the similarities and differences in the regulation of these legal mechanisms in different countries. This study offers an objective view that allows for an understanding of how each legal system establishes its own rules and time limits for the extinguishment of rights and obligations, whether by the inaction of the holders of these rights or by the mere passage of time. In this regard, the study not only highlights the particularities of each legislation but also seeks to find common patterns and significant divergences, providing a useful frame of reference for both academics and legal professionals who seek to better understand the interrelationship and mutual influence between different legal systems in this specific area of civil law.
