Infostructure and the open access movement

Abstract

This article analyzes some of the costs of science linked to its infostructure and the development of the open access movement as a driver of changes in the process of publishing research and scientific publishers, which have been forced to provide their readers have free access to a percentage of their collections, for that reason, to support the publication of open access journals, publishers have generated alternative or hybrid business models for subscriptions. It concludes with a positive vision for universities for the strengthening of open access and its incidence to reduce the gap in access to knowledge and participate more actively in the productive cycle of science.
