Abstract

In 1986, one of the most fateful and shocking nuclear accidents took place, specifically in the industrial city of Chernobyl, northern Ukraine. Among the professionals deployed by the Soviet government there was Valery Legasov, a well-known inorganic chemist who played a fundamental roll in minimizing the damage caused by the radiation, as well as in the political aftermath that succeeded.
