Abstract

This research aimed to understand the belief system regarding the promotion of adolescent mental health in the Potrerito sector of the Palavecino municipality in Lara state. The topic was approached from idealism as an ontological stance, with a qualitative approach, centered on the interpretive paradigm, a phenomenological-hermeneutic study; in which the key interpreters were three (3) parents of adolescents, who interacted in an in-depth interview. The information was categorized, and informant triangulation was employed to reflect on the phenomenon under study. The findings indicate that the parents' belief system does not lead them to perceive mental health care and prevention as necessary for adolescents. Therefore, it is suggested that activities be implemented to promote mental health as an essential aspect for this population group.
