Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) professionals must possess a variety of technical and managerial skills. They must be trained in Occupational Medicine, Occupational Hygiene, Ergonomics and Occupational Safety, and be able to identify and assess occupational risks, plan work, select and maintain work teams, and develop work practice improvement programs. The ILO stresses the need to adapt to changing conditions, so OSH professionals must anticipate challenges, respond effectively, coordinate actions and learn proactively. In addition, they must develop skills such as analytical thinking, innovation, resilience and leadership. Professional ethics, according to the ICOH Code of Ethics, is essential to guide their performance, promoting collaboration and a multidisciplinary approach. Constant updating and consideration of the impact on individuals, communities and the environment are key to their success in the OSH field.
