Managerial management, as a discipline that deals with the planning, organization, direction, and control of an organization's resources, plays a crucial role in determining the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). These organizations are characterized by their flexibility and adaptability; they find effective management to be the key to their growth and sustainability in an increasingly competitive business environment. In this sense, managerial management is essential for the success and sustainability of SMEs, where effective administration allows for the optimization of resources, improving competitiveness, and thus adapting to market changers. Consequently, for an organization to be competitive it needs to establish, develop and perfect management functions in order to achieve high levels of satisfaction among the individuals who come together in it, based on an effective system of communication both internal and external that allows it to anticipate and delve into the changes that are taking place in its environment, since the main objective of competitiveness is to create comparative advantages that allow to sustain and improve the position that the company has in the socioeconomic environment to which it belongs and emphasize them when creating and executing action initiatives. Therefore, to address countless concerns about the current state of management, this article presents an outline of different managerial approaches. This aims to provide a glimpse into how managers can achieve competitiveness in SMEs. These approaches require transparency in their practices, ensuring organizational balance based on managerial ethics, and being accountable in the administrative activities they carry out within the company.
